About the person

My name is Patrick Parschan. Since 2021, I have been a research and teaching associate at the Department of Media and Communication (IfKW) at LMU Munich, where I am pursuing my PhD at the chair for Computational Communication Research. My research focuses on analyzing political communication using methods from data science and artificial intelligence (AI). I specialize in computational social science, natural language processing, algorithmic auditing, and estimating political positions from text. I regularly organize academic workshops and hackathons and served as the early-career representative of the Computational Methods Division of the International Communication Association (ICA) from 2023 to 2025. At IfKW, I teach courses on statistics, AI, and political communication.
